The Potato Celebration

In 2008 in the town of Mariynsk the only a monument to a potato in the country has been erected.

Mariynsk is the birthplace of the world's potato yields. On the Potato Day at the main square of Mariynsk a fair, a theatrical progarmme, exhibition and tasting of potato dishes and contests are held.

The Potato Celebration is hosted in one of the oldest towns in Kuzbass that has preserved the stone and wooden buildings offering a vivid picture of how a county town looked in the XIX century.

Currently Mariynsk is developing as an open air museum and offers a number of exciting and affordable travel itineraries.
